Welcome to the new Plumbers, Pipefitters and Service Technicians, Local 422 Web site.

initial eligibility requirements

You are eligible for Plan benefits if you are an Employee who works for a Contributing Employer within the jurisdiction of the Fund and you meet the Plan’s eligibility requirements. This benefit is described in detail in the Health and Welfare Summary Plan Description (SPD) booklet.

Eligibility is based on Contribution Quarters and Benefit Quarters as follows:

Contribution Quarters Benefit Quarters

Work Performed During:
January, February, and March
April, May, and June
July, August, and September
October, November, and December

Determines Eligibility for:
July, August, and September
October, November, and December
January, February, and March
April, May, and June

Your coverage will begin on the first day of the Benefit Quarter that follows a Contribution Quarter during which you worked for a Contributing Employer who made contributions to the Fund on your behalf for at least 200 hours.

Example: You work a total of 200 hours for a Contributing Employer during the months of January, February, and March, combined. The Fund receives contributions from your Employer for these hours so you are eligible for coverage as of July 1 for the months of July, August and September.

If you or a family member have a management role in the operations of a Contributing Employer, you are eligible for coverage if contributions are made to the Fund on your behalf for at least 160 hours of work per month.

The Reserve Accumulation Account (Hour Bank)

If you work more than 200 hours in any Contribution Quarter for a Contributing Employer, your excess hours will be credited to a Reserve Accumulation Account, or Hour Bank. The excess hours will automatically be used to continue your eligibility if you do not work the 200 hours required in any Contribution Quarter. You can have up to a maximum of 800 hours in reserve in your Hour Bank.

If you engage in employment with an Employer who does not participate in the Fund, any hours that have accumulated in your Hour Bank will be immediately terminated.
